UPDATE: Obama Is Like A King And A "God"

With the recent praise and adulation poured over President Obama I thought it would be fitting to update an earlier blog of mine. It was titled President Obama and King Manasseh. I have essentially put the whole thing below, just adding the recent comparison of Obama to God on the Chris Matthews Show:

If you are like me you are getting sick of all these grandiose comparisons of President Obama to some other historical figure. We have seen President Obama compared to Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and even Jesus Christ by way of community organizing. After Obama's speech in Egypt he is even now being compared to God.

As the title of this blog suggests, I would like to make another comparison, and with a king no less. A king from the Old Testament whose name was Manasseh. Manasseh was blessed to become king at the young age of twelve years old. But that is about the only good thing we learn about this king. This particular king is known for being one of the most wicked kings in the Old Testament because he lead the nation and more importantly, God's people into idolatry. It is a biblical principle of idolatry that when every form of wickedness is tolerated, those who seek to remain faithful to the one true God are persecuted.

"Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. His mother's name was Hephzibah. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, following the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them. He built altars in the temple of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem I will put my Name." In both courts of the temple of the LORD, he built altars to all the starry hosts." 2 Kings 21:1-5

Idolatry is rampant throughout the society. Idols have been raised in public areas called the "high places" even profaning God's temple, a place where one is to revere a holy and righteous God. This idolatry lead to rampant sexual immorality and the worship of nature as we are told they bowed down to the "starry hosts". They no longer worship the Lord God who created these things but nature itself. But the worst is yet to come.

"He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger.

He took the carved Asherah pole he had made and put it in the temple, of which the LORD had said to David and to his son Solomon, "In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever. I will not again make the feet of the Israelites wander from the land I gave their forefathers, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them and will keep the whole Law that my servant Moses gave them." But the people did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites. The LORD said through his servants the prophets: Manasseh king of Judah has committed these detestable sins. He has done more evil than the Amorites who preceded him and has led Judah into sin with his idols." 2 Kings 21:6-11

It is here that I make this biblical comparison. King Manasseh was so deceived by idolatry that he actually sacrificed his own son to these false gods. Remember, that as a candidate, Senator Obama said he would not want his daughters punished with a baby if they made a mistake and became pregnant. Both King Manasseh and President Obama were and are willing to sacrifice their own flesh and blood to the evil idols of their age.

There is absolutely no difference between the sacrifice of children to idols in the Old Testament and the sacrifice of the unborn to the idols of this age, only the names have changed. No Christian can accommodate and compromise to this evil for if they do they are tolerating the sacrifice of human life to demons, and this needs to be repented of.

You also have President Obama propagating sexual immorality with his attack on God's institution of marriage through the gay rights movement. Obama's policies will likely lead to homosexuality being equated with one's ethnicity, and as a father of an Asian American daughter, I find that morally offensive. One's sin does not equal one's skin.

The hysteria over global warming is leading us into the idolatry of nature and of man's power to effect nature. God is ultimately in control of our climate. Yes we need to be responsible but we passed that a long time ago and now we are worshiping ourselves and ejecting God from His rightful place. Global warming is also a pathway to the totalitarian control over every aspect of our lives and will diminish our value as being uniquely created in God's image.

It is for these reasons that I think this comparison is more justified. I take no pleasure in pointing this out. I am greatly troubled by Christians who are caught up in the idolatry of Liberalism, which is a false religion standing in total antithesis to biblical Christianity.

If you are a Christian or not and you have supported these evil things the only answer for you is to repent of your sin and turn to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the exclusive Savior of mankind and the only Lord we ought to obey. Idolatry will cause you to sin against Jesus and deny Him as Lord and that is why these idols must be named and torn down so we can see clearly who Jesus really is.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
Jesus the Way to the Father
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:1-6

I commented at Tim Challies and left a link there to your post here. Maybe I shouldn't had done that. I was thinking, and should have asked. Sorry about that. Unless it is okay with you and Tim.

Sometimes i just don't think till it's too late.

Great post BTW.

@donsands,

Please, by all means feel free to link my blog anywhere. I assumed that was protocol for blogging, but maybe not. Thanks for the comment. Sometimes I wonder if blogging is like a tree falling in forest: If no one reads it, did I really say anything?
